Best Concert You’ve Gone To — Or Want To Go To?

Now that Rush is back on tour, will be going to that if not sold out.

Not sure if this qualifies as a concert: Many

years ago I was in San Francisco on business.

I came up to my room to change for an evening

function I didn’t really want to go to. I heard this amazing music outside and thought it sounded

like the Moody Blues. I went out on my balcony

and it WAS the Moody Blues. It was like they

were right next door! I changed into my pj’s

and poured a glass of wine and sat out there

for a wonderful free concert of a group I

absolutely love!

Any concert at Red Rocks is excellent, no matter the performer(s). Have lived in 7 states and multiple major cities; the best concert venue is Red Rocks!

     ….sometimes the venue had a visceral impact upon me.  I saw the Ramones and Patti Smith at CBGBs - with the music and the edgy vibe dovetailing perfectly together.  A simply perfect seedy dive!

      Along the same vein, when we were on the West Coast back in the early 80s,  the Roxy was where we saw Muddy Waters, the Stray Cats, Laurie Anderson and Joe Jackson.  Each concert had its unique intense blend of people that enhanced the music experience.

Best concert I ever went to post college was to see Robert Zimmerman. Seats were so close that we could almost touch him.

While in college, my school had a Woodstock type concert every year with the likes of James Taylor, Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, and Chuck Berry in attendance.

 There used to be a night club in Boston back in the day, not far from Fenway Park..They always booked "famous"acts but the interesting marketing part was they would never tell anyone who it was until after you had paid the cover to get in.. I went once,paid my cover,got my hand stamped and after I was inside I asked a bouncer who was playing.. The Eagles he said.. THE EAGLES I repeated????  He just sort of snorted at me and walked off.. Best $7.50 I ever spent..
