You know how AARP helpfully warns members to beware of unscrupulous companies that use fine print to deceive customers? Well... I ordered an AirBnb gift card yesterday morning from AARP Rewards. I didn't receive an email confirming the transaction, even though my credit card was charged immediately. I used the chat hours later and was told I should receive it within 24 hours of the order. I waited well over a day later and called AARP. I was told that someone would get back to me in 5-10 days. (Not necessarily provide the card I purchase, but get back to me). When I said I wanted to cancel the transaction because I wouldn't need the card by then, I was told I couldn't. They then pointed out fine print: "AARP further reserves the right to extend delivery times in its sole discretion and without compensation or reimbursement to Participant for any reason."I see now that there are a number of posts going back over a long period in this online community from other AARP members wh
My wife and I recently attempted to get a membership at Sams's Club for the first time. We did some research and found that the company has a $20 annual rate for people over the age of 50. Since we qualify, we attempted to get the preferrential rate. Our neighborhood store told us that we needed to appy for it online. When we did so, we were directed to id.me to verity our ages, which we did. At that point, we received the following message from Sam's Club: OFFER IS UNAVAILABLE. THE OFFER YOU'VE SELECTDED IS IN POPULAR DEMAND. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF RFETRIEVING MORE UNIQUE PROMO CODES FOR: I contacted customer service by telephone and was informed that this is a long-term problem for Sams' Club, and she wasn't sure when we would be able to get access to the offer. She did offer us a $25 promotional rate which increases to $50 after one year. I don't know for sure, but this seems like it could be a bait and switch - an ef
Get ready in California.... Just got our Hartford auto insurance quote....Same 2 autos, increase was 800 dollars. Most of 800 was for Liability. Our agent is now shopping but she even said, California is terrible now. AARP should stop advertising that Hartford gives AARP members great rates.....
A friend and I reserved a car with Budget in Ft Meyers, FL , for the month of February. After arriving at the Ft. Meyers airport, we waited two hours on line before we finally got to the counter. When we did, we were told that the only cars available at the price point we had chosen were electric. We had not reserved an electric car and we didn't want an electric car!! After an extended period of back and forth with the agent, we agreed to pay an extra $250. in order to get a non-electric car. When we called Budget a few days later to complain, we were told they would not even talk about the issue until after the rental was completed. During our visit to FL, the car we were driving became unsafe to drive. At the time, we were in Evergaldes City, FL, where we had taken a road trip to visit the area and one of the local museums - quite far from Ft. Meyers. It took hours to get a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived, we were not
I booked a package (flight and hotel). Traveled over a month ago. Supposed to receive a $ 50 gift card within 7 days. Never received. Spoke to AARP Travel. They said would now take 30 days to receive the card. 32 days later still never received it. Call AARP Travel again. After half hour on the phone I was told that I wasn't eligible for the card (even though my booking and the website says that I am). Supposed to be escalated and I'll hear back. Not holding my breath.
Be careful if you order from Silver Cuisine. My first order for $85 including the AARP discount was 3 days in transit and sat on my very hot porch for 12 hours, resulting in having to throw away the food. They did not notify me that the order was being shipped or when it was delivered. They did refund my money. Then I ordered again on 8/1 and my credit card was charged that day. The order was not shipped until 8/11. It is due to be delivered today but I would not have known if I hadn't gone to site to see what was going on. I was not notified of the shipment or when it would be delivered. Very poor customer service.
I purchased an AirBnB gift card and have not received an email. It has been less than 24 hours but I feel if $400 in showing on my credit card statement then I should have access to the gift card. I wanted to make the last payment which is due with the gift card.
Dear AARP, Every month I wake up midnight on the first day of the month to earn extra credit rewards. Every month it is a debacle. It usually takes hours for your system to catch up or resolve itself. I hope there is admins in the background fixing the problems, but this is just a horrible experience. Why so broken for so long?
For years my AARP Medicare Supplement plan has offered Silver Sneakers. I used it at my local YMCA, as have many of my friends. My wife, who just turned 65, just started using the online version of Silver Sneakers after using it at the Y also, through her own AARP membership, We do NOT use the Medicare Advantage program because we travel out of state for long periods of time during the summer. Now she is on Medicare and has the AARP Medicare Supplement version of the old Plan F, reputedly the best plan in the country. She was told that Silver Sneakers was part of her new plan, and she started using the online program as soon as she could. She has done it now for a few months. She loves her instructor and the online program, and now Silver Sneakers is no longer available through AARP Supplement and she is being told that it is now available only through the AARP Medicare Advantage Program. What the heck is going on here? Are others being told one thing and given an
The Hartford provides the auto and umbrella coverage that I need, however, they refuse to offer homeowner's insurance for homes with a flat roof. I am disappointed that AARP offers no other options for it's members. Please find a company that will provide homeowner's insurance that covers flat roofed homes for members that need this coverage. Thank you for your consideration
I have not been able to do anything in AARP rewards. All we get is a message that says "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties in processing your request. Please retry in a few minutes. Thank you for your patience." for several weeks. The resolution we are provided is that someone is "working on it". Planned to buy guftcards for upcoming travel, which seems unlikely at this point.
Just give me the discount you offer in the endless, annoying, selfish, greedy, time wasting, USPS spam marketing -- and we're done. You offered $49 / 5 years -- in USPS marketing pieces (spam) -- and if I could access that on line -- here -- it would save AARP a fortune in postage and paper, not to mention pissing me off -- otherwise, it looks like we're done with my ancient membership. It's offensive, very offensive how AARP tries to selfishly un-caringly manipulate everything and does not negotiate or even communicate (why I'm posting here). NO PHONE / NO TEXTING / NO PAPER -- SEND EMAIL -- for me -- and we could finish this up. Thanks, Dru
Any suggestions for east Louisville?
Made reservations for Niagara Falls, non refundable through AARP app. Life happened and needed to cancel and the hotel refuse to extend grace and give a refund. AARP, as a company shouldn't partner with anyone that is so hung on a policy that they can't help someone. This is a slap in the face and AARP should take it personally.
I bundled my home and auto policies with AARP Hartford in February 2025 due to an attractive quote, but I was not told that the auto quote required me to download their TrueLane app, which detects driving performance. I learned that my policy would increase 15% if I did not have the app. Then I found out that my phone at that time did not have a motion sensor. So I spent $170 on a new phone which has a motion sensor, thinking I would make make up the cost in one year, by saving $90 every 6 months on my auto rate. Imagine my surprise when I received my renewal for August 2025 with a 20% increase. This is a 40% annual increase, in an era of 2 to 3% annual inflation, and wipes out the supposed savings by having the app. The app does not work all the time but when it does work, it usually gives me a one star rating, due to hard braking. If you drive in normal traffic conditions, you will invariably need to brake hard occasionally due to traffic stopping abruptly in front of you or someone
AARP Optum quoted me $38.xx for my script. CVS said nope.......... $118 is what they show for that script in REAL TIME.Called Optum. they said well it's just an estimate and others have said.. That's total BS and very misleading. Optum said they would call CVS and call me back.. Still waiting.......... AARP needs to quit pushing this worthless "benefit". It's FAKE.
If I already have an existing membership and it is due to renew, can I use the AARP Discount on my existing membership or will I need to cancel it and start a new membership to et the 40% off?thank you for your help!
AARP and Budget boast 30% savings plus a 3% discount for return customers. I used the two discounts and decided to run it through with no discounts. The savings a total of 5%.Stop deceiving customers!
Well, well, well. I don't use the AARP card anymore when I go to Denny's. I learned my lesson after they deny the discount on any of their value meals. It is pathetic to say the least. You go in there and order 2 senior and 2 value meals and 4 waters and don't get a single discount. Like I said. It is pathetic they do that and also, the advertising is VERY deceiving. It clearly says that you get 15% off your entire meal. That is the BIG headline. The ENTIRE MEAL! To then put in small print that the discount cannot exceed $10 is grounds for a lawsuit. You cannot claim one thing when it is said with a clear and direct sentence and then contradict the main premise of that sentence with a limiting condition. Just totally illogical and wrong.
I need to replace my trunk organizer. Mine had gas spilled in it from a gas can and I can't get the smell out. How can I get another one? Can I buy one?
New York Life is NOT Guaranteed Acceptance - they turned me down!
Either Denny's has a 15% discount or they don't. Enough with the marketing games. Why should seniors be expected to read the fine print on the Denny's website to finagle a discount widely promoted online and on the AARP site as well? AARP should remove Denny's from the advertised discounts. Recently I had lunch at a Salem, Va Denny's. Bill was $23. Discount was $1.23, hardly a 15% discount. Seniors are a big part of their customer base. It is inexcusable that they are attracting folks based on sneaky promotions and using AARP to do so.
My wife and I have been considering an AARP membership for a couple years. Today, we joined when we saw we could buy discounted Cirque du Soleil tickets as members. Unfortunately, their 'discounts' through their memberdeals.com website are NOT discounts at all! The seats they offered us were $511 for two. Buying those same seats on Bellagio's own site are $479. If AARP members are buying things that they think are discounted, but cost them more, then AARP is doing a disservice to us in the least, and possibly fraud at most.
It has been 7 months since I received, at my home, unrequested correspondence regarding: AARP'S PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT PROGRAM. It was ridiculous that it was even called a discount program then....so what about now? I take five medications. Prescription #1- Their price: $1680.00 My cost: $80.00 Prescription #2- Their price: $4.95 My cost: $0 Prescription #3- Their price: $1.44 &n
