Paramount Plus discount doesn't work for existing account

I followed the instructions for applying the discount to an existing account: cancel existing account, log out, go to the paramountplus.com/aarp site, verify AARP account.  But at that point, it wanted me to make an entirely new account, and wouldn't accept my existing one.  When I signed in, it just left that process entirely.  This seems to either be a flaw in the process, or they don't really intended to let it work on existing accounts and the benefit page should reflect that.

The same is true for my account; it will not allow an AARP discount and defaults to the old original price, except now it will not even allow me to cancel the subscription.

That much I can explain.  When I was trying this, I noticed it says you can only cancel once per some period of time (a month, I think?).  So there's a cooldown period on it.

@DvandomZ @mpyoungster To take advantage of the AARP discount as an existing Paramount+ subscriber- you’ll first need to cancel your existing subscription, then re-subscribe to Paramount+ by going to paramountplus.com/aarp. Complete info can be found on our help site here:  https://aarp.info/46Ce9J8

Yes, I followed the instructions on the website and they did not work. No option to verify AARP account was presented. It went back to the old monthly rate. The instructions simply do not work!!!

I wonder did/does anyone actually test the instructions listed on the website for existing Paramount Plus subscribers to get the AARP discount?   They woud see immediately that the instructions simply do not work!!!

You're WRONG Diana G.  Do you even know what you're talking about?  Did you even try to follow your own instructions?  Does anyone even check your answers to this forum...because it's incorrect!

I agree.  Total incompetence which is typical of AARP staff.  Those instructions don't work and it's a complete train wreck to follow them.  Why didn't they get some idiot to just review what they instructed us to do.  Not sure why I'm even a member of AARP.  It's always more trouble than it's worth.

I just tried this as well, and ran into the same stupid limitation. Want a discount? Cancel your account! Then create a new one. Totally absurd. I blame Paramount for this stupidity. Their accounting system must have been built by neanderthals.

I did this using my husband name vs my name with the correct link, his email etc as he is AARP as well.  No where during the creating the account did it ask for the AARP membership number to verify.  It did ask for all the payment pertinent info.  My question is once it goes past the screen with this info will it indeed ask for AARP?  I looked at the www.paramountplus.com/aarp and it is not the same web address its just paramount plus....this tells me Aarp is not linked for this.
